The Mémoire des Vins Suisses (MDVS) is a collaboration of the top 25 wine producers in Switzerland Each year, this group organizes a large tasting of their wines and also puts together a wine library of older vintages ‘a memory’ that will be tasted in the decades to come. With this criteria in mind, the wines selected are of incredible quality.
Hervé Badan, of the Swiss Wine Selection, dropped by our office a few days ago to share some of these wines with us. We’ve chosen three lovely wines that showcase the innovation, the quality, and the deliciousness that is Swiss wine.
We first tasted a Marsanne - a varietal that hails from the Rhone valley in France. This one was so different from other Marsanne’s that we have tried! This brilliant, straw colored wine is seductive and is bursting with a lot of tropical fruit flavors - dragon berry, star fruit, pineapple, and the finish has a bit of honey. The wine has a smooth satiny texture and a hint of sweetness, well balanced by the acidity and alcohol. This wine is very 'gourmand' and would pair very well with Asian food, foie gras, summer salads.
One of the best things that Hervé does is producing these gorgeous videos that transport you into the place where this was made…let’s go to the Valais! (in French)
